INSTRUCTIONS FOR COLONOSCOPY PREPARATION WITH 

Phospho-Soda EZ Prep Bowel Cleansing System

You are scheduled to have an examination of your colon with the use of a lighted flexible tube called a colonoscope. You will be given medication prior to your examination that will enable your doctor to perform the test with as little discomfort to you as possible. Because of the medication's sedative properties, you must make arrangements for someone to accompany you home after the procedure.

Please read these instructions at least two (2) days before your colonoscopy because this is a two-day preparation. Your physician may adjust your dosage schedule.

PLEASE NOTE:

· Individual response to laxatives vary. They often work within 30 minutes, but may take as long as three (3) hours. Please remain within easy reach of bathroom facilities.

· All aspirin or aspirin-containing products and iron supplements must be stopped at least 5 days prior to your examination.

· Other anti-inflammatory medications (i.e., Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve, etc.) must be stopped 48 hours prior to examination. If you have not discontinued these medications, please contact your doctor.

· If you are taking coumadin or other anticoagulant medications, please consult your physician for additional instructions.

· If you require antibiotics prior to medical procedures (for example, if you have valvular heart disease, a history of endocarditis, or an artificial joint), please consult your doctor for an appropriate prophylactic regimen.

· If you have diabetes, please do not take your diabetic medications on the day of the procedure until after the examination is over and you have eaten. Severe hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may result if you take sugar-lowering medications without food.

· All other medications may be continued without modification.

Colonoscopy preparation

Day before colonoscopy:

· Breakfast - Enjoy a light breakfast which may include coffee, eggs, white bread, juice, low fiber cereal (like rice krispies). Do not have oatmeal. One 8 ounce can of ensure or boost is suggested as well. (Do not take ensure plus or boost with fiber).

· Lunch - Make sure none of the liquids are colored red or purple.
For lunch, liquids as you desire. This includes jello, popsicles, Italian ice, soup (clear soup only without vegetables or noodles. Plain chicken soup is fine), soda, Gatorade, coffee, tea, water, and juices (no pulp). Essentially, you can have any liquid through which you can see light.

·INSTRUCTIONS FOR COLONOSCOPY PREPARATION WITH EZ-PREP

  • For colonoscopies or other medical procedures.
  • Contents:
    • 2 Bottles of Fleet Phospho-soda Unflavored, 1.5 fl oz (45 ml) and 1 fl oz (30 ml)
    • 2 Lemonade flavor packets (.07 oz each)
    • 1 - 12 fl oz mixing cup
    • 1 Patient instruction sheet
  • Easy, complete & convenient.
  • Low volume.
  • 15-ml Contains:
    • Sodium 1668 mg
  • This product is sugar-free.

·                  This product generally produces a bowel movement In 30 minutes to 6 hours.

Instructions

  • Open and read the enclosed directions and labels at least 24 hours, preferably 48 hours, in advance of examination.
  • Follow each step and complete all instructions or the entire x-ray or endoscopic examination may have to be repeated.
  • Do not take this product until you have real the complete bowel cleansing instructions in the enclosed insert.
  • If your doctor has provided you different directions, follow them exactly.
  • Dose 1:
    • Add powder from flavor packet (Lemonade Flavor) to mixing cup.
    • Fill cup with 12 fl. oz. of cold water - to the 12 fl. oz. fill line.
    • Mix well.
    • Add 45-ml bottle of Fleet Phospho-soda - or amount directed by your doctor.
    • Mix well and drink all contents of the mixing cup.
    • Immediately drink another full mixing cup of clear liquid.
    • Drink a minimum of two / 2 additional full mixing cups of clear liquid before taking Dose 2.
  • Dose 2:
    • Add powder from flavor packet - Lemonade Flavor to mixing cup.
    • Fill cup with 12 fl. oz. of cold water - to the 12 fl. oz. fill line.
    • Mix well.
    • Add 30-ml bottle of Fleet Phospho-soda - or amount directed by your doctor.
    • Mix well and drink all contents of the mixing cup.
    • Immediately drink another full mixing cup of clear liquid.
    • Additional clear liquids may be taken until 3 hours before your procedure.
  • Adults and Children 18 Years and Over:
    • 30 to 45 ml per dose. Do not take more than 45 ml / 1.5 fl. oz. per dose. See Warnings. Never take more than 1 bottle at one time.
  • Chill this product in the refrigerator to improve the taste.
Do not freeze.

You may drink as much water as you like from 9 pm until midnight.

After midnight nothing to drink. You may take medications if approved by the doctor.

· Morning of exam -Take one fleets enema 2 hours before the exam. If your procedure is scheduled for 12 noon or later you may have one glass of water before 8 am.

No aspirin, Motrin, Nuprin, Advil, Alka-Seltzer, or vitamin E for 5 days prior to the procedure. Tylenol is permitted.
